Engineering Manager needed in Chicago, IL

The Engineering Manager is accountable for successful management of capital projects, productivity, reliability and process control to maintain continuous improvements and financial growth for the site.

  • Accountable for the professional and technical leadership of site engineering staff.
  • Supports the development and maintains knowledge of Grace & industry best practices.
  • Provides mentoring and professional development for the engineering staff
  • Manages the allocation of engineering resources to achieve goals and priorities.
  • Manages the establishment of methodologies, tools, standards, and operating procedures for the engineering disciplines.
  • Manages the prioritized portfolio of current and potential capital, productivity and reliability projects.
  • Participates and leads efforts for improving productivity and reliability incorporating new technologies
  • Works to ensure a safe working environment for employees and environmental compliance for area of responsibility
  • Manages new process designs and equipment changes and oversees plant test runs
  • Ensures all engineering activities meet PSM requirements and manages the training of engineering personnel as needed
  • Participates in the safety audits program(s). Attends or leads safety meetings for engineering personnel
  • Supports EHS incident investigations and  ensures completion of corrective actions in a timely manner
  • Identify, monitor and maintain key performance indicators communicates to the operator/craftsman level
  • Facilitates positive change in the Engineering organization by pro-actively driving department initiatives. Acts as a change agent in implementing cross-functional plant business objectives.
  • Reviews capital budget and spending requirements for the site.
  • Drives process improvements to ensure all required components of project execution are completed
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • 7-10 years of operations experience in manufacturing or petro-chemical plants including leadership/management experience
  • Working knowledge of PSM programs
  • Must be able to lead projects, develop team talent
