Seeking an experienced lab technician for medical device company in Goleta, CA. Must have 1+ year of lab tech experience with a B.S. in life sciences OR 2+ years of experience with a high school diploma.

This position has the responsibility and authority to, under minimal supervision, provide technical support to engineers in all phases of product, process, and equipment projects. Performs and coordinates assembly, start-up, troubleshooting, and testing of processes as required to meet project schedules and validation requirements. Analyzes technical problems with equipment and processes and recommends corrective action plans. Works closely with engineers on verification and validation test protocols to qualify equipment and processes.


  • Coordinates project activities including but not limited to: documentation, change orders, process design, product introduction, manufacturing procedures, scheduling, testing and production builds.
  • Works closely with appropriate functions to document equipment, tooling, fixtures and prototypes. Validates/verifies functionality of equipment and fixture operation as required.
  • Applies advanced level knowledge to analyze and make recommendations to optimize operations. Applies logic to systematically troubleshoot equipment and/or processes while ensuring safe practices.
  • Assists with writing and reviewing process verification/ validation protocols pertaining to equipment and/or processes. Works closely with engineers to perform protocol testing as required to support project schedules.
  • Coordinates small to medium scale equipment/fixture changes as assigned.
  • Provides status reports to manager as necessary.
  • Writes and reviews technical documentation that accurately and clearly defines procedures for engineering approval.
  • Provides process expertise, training and mentoring to employees as necessary.
  • Applies working knowledge of Company systems and procedures to support engineering in facilitating project transitions from one phase to the next.
  • Identifies safety issues in the immediate work environment and other work areas and recommends solutions for improvement.
  • All activities must be performed in compliance with the Quality System.
  • Performs duties in compliance with environmental, health and safety related site rules, policies or governmental regulations.

Education Required: High School Diploma

Years of Experience:

2+ years of related lab technician experience with a high school diploma


1+ years of experience of related experience with a BS in Life Science


  • Very good verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to report technical information
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a team member
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to work on several demanding projects simultaneously
  • Working knowledge of MS Office programs (i.e. Excel, Word, Project) Agile, ERP preferred
