Engineering and Continuous Improvement Manager

Apex Life Sciences is searching for an Engineering and Continuous Improvement Manager for our client located in the Vaughan, ON area. This is a full-time permanent role with a competitive salary and benefits. Our client is a food production facility specializing in ready to eat and frozen meals. We are searching for candidates with previous manufacturing experience and a P.Eng designation. This position would be leading plant Lean/ 5S activities, participating in new process development and preparing and managing capital projects. Candidates with HACCP, GMP and SQF experience are an asset.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead production facilities in the Toronto area in Lean / 5S to reduce waste and improve plant productivity
  • Participate in new process development by researching cost and feasibility
  • Focusing on cost and efficiency improvements, support the development of new SOP’s
  • Identification of process improvement opportunities and developing strategies to implement changes
  • Evaluation of corrective actions for continuous improvement of processes, equipment and product performance
  • Perform problem solving activities in the context of continuous improvement
  • Management and coordination of CI projects
  • Maintain plant drawings and systems to build a history
  • Produce optimized designs
  • Produce engineering documentation
  • Adhere to Quality, Safety and Regulatory requirements set by the CFIA, HACCP, etc.
  • Track and achieve KPIs
  • Build a continuous improvement culture

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field
  • P.Eng Designation
  • 10+ years of Manufacturing/ Food Production experience
  • Strong knowledge of Lean/ 5S
  • Project Management experience
  • Experience leading groups (Kaizen)
  • HACCP, GMP, SQF experience an asset
  • Experience with AutoCAD
  • Detail-oriented, creative or innovative, strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be comfortable working in refrigerated and freezer environments
  • Some travel required (GTA, Canada)
