Position:          Dispatcher

Location:          Indianapolis, IN

Hours:              1st shift 

Summary:

Apex Life Sciences is searching for a dispatcher for our client in the Indianapolis, IN area. This position is a 1st shift full time, contract to hire opportunity with a client in the chemical industry. This person will coordinate loads and deliveries of products to various clients.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:

1. A good safety and attendance record.

2. Thorough understanding of the importance of customer service and the ability to work cooperatively with other departments and personnel in meeting customer needs.

3. Working knowledge of D.O.T. regulations.

4. High school diploma or equivalent.

5. Working knowledge of dispatch functions for over the road drivers

6. Computer skills sufficient to perform job.

7. Willingness to accept overtime (both scheduled and impromptu), to be subject to and available for call-in, and to work other shifts as needed to meet customer needs.

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITY & AUTHORITY:

  • Check sign-out sheets to see if drivers got out and on time for deliveries.
  • Review delivery tickets check for the amount of product delivered, total miles and time in and out at customer location before turning tickets into Customer Service.
  • Check Central Dispatch screen for next days deliveries and record in Dispatch Book.
  • Assign tankers for bulk deliveries, enter numbers in book and Central Dispatch screen, also list tankers that need to be washed in Dispatch Book.
  • Enter Central Dispatch for today.
  • Perform any and all other duties assigned by Distribution Managers, to assist in plant needs.
  • Overall responsibility for area housekeeping.
  • Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformities relating to product, process, and quality system.
  • Identify and record any problems related to products, processes, and quality system.
  • Control further processing, delivery or installation of nonconforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
  • Responsibility for customer complaint resolution in this area.

  • Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformities relating to product, process, and quality system
  • Identify and record any problems relating to the product, process, and quality system
  • Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through designated channels
  • Verify the implementation of solutions
  • Control further processing, delivery or installation of non-conforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
