Director of Manufacturing            

Large, expanding pharmaceutical manufacturer is looking to hire a Director of Manufacturing for our professional, dedicated team. We are looking for someone with pharmaceutical manufacturing experience to take charge of our stellar Manufacturing team. With 5 direct reports and a sizable team between 3 shifts we work together to produce the best products on the market to save lives – this is our passion!  This position will be working Monday - Friday during the day with occasional call outs if needed.  We offer a competitive salary and strong benefits program - and will pay to relocate a well experienced candidate.


Production Operations is responsible for the preparation of all components and equipment used in the sterile filling process, conducting the sterile filling processes, the decontamination of sterile filling equipment, and the sanitation and preparation of the processing facilities. Production Operations accounts for 70% of the site staff and spend.

Production Operations is responsible for approximately 90% of the total site revenue, approximately 70% of the site spend, all customer interactions for their specific product line, equipment and assets, as well as all day-to-day and strategic manufacturing operations for a 24x7 operation. This position will be part of the extended site leadership team.

The Director is responsible for the operations and strategic management of manufacturing operations and personnel. This encompasses planning, coordinating, and supervising manufacturing in accordance with delivery dates, customer specifications, established quality standards and meeting all FDA and international regulatory and customer requirements. The Director is responsible for strategic direction of the Primary Manufacturing Operations of the company.  The Director integrates the Quality Assurance Product Specialists and Customer Service Representatives for direct customer contact.  He / she is the face of the company to the FDA and customers on audits, and in planning efforts.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Help develop and manage multiple facilities projects from conception through construction
  • Able to define, prioritize and achieve realistic, specific goals and objectives
  • Meet deadlines while handling multiple priorities
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, administrative staff, managers in different departments and outside contractors
  • Provide technical support/guidance for the plant mechanical systems 
  • Understand the facility HVAC system and components, their function, how they work and dealing with the associated interdependent systems to include: plant boiler operation / steam system, chilled water systems, and heated water
  • Capable of technical support of plant compressed air, nitrogen, and process vacuum to include design, modifications, upgrades, and support
  • Familiar with the NFPA 85 Boiler and Combustion Systems Hazards Code,  NFPA90A and NFPA90B Standard for installation of HVAC Systems, NFPA 91 Standard for Exhaust Systems
  • Operation of energy management systems, HVAC systems, temperature controls, and process control systems in a manufacturing environment is preferred   
  • Schedule, manage and review the work of outside engineering firms as well as outside contractors for equipment, facilities, utilities and other work
  • Ensure that activities stay within the budgetary guidelines
  • Identify and initiate projects for facility improvements within the guidance established
  • Produce/Support engineering documentation efforts
  • Ensure planning and tracking of all assigned projects
  • Provide specifications and cost estimates for major equipment acquisitions
  • Assure that facility engineering drawings and associated documentation (including work orders and ECOs) are effectively and compliantly completed, updated, and maintained
  • Other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities:                                                   

Manages 5 direct reports

Education and/or Experience:                                                 

-Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Manufacturing, one of the sciences or equivalent relevant education and experience.

- 5 years’ directly related leadership experience in pharmaceutical industry.  Ten years of experience preferred.
