Job Description

Position: Controls Engineer

Location: Dearborn, MI

Apex Life Sciences is seeking a Controls Engineer in Dearborn Michigan. This Engineer must have an open schedule to work different shifts.

Position Duties:

•             Use FIS Plant monitoring software to review cycle times of automation, review and follow up automation project's and installations

•             Troubleshoot PLC, robot, and other automation problems

•             Update program backups for automation

•             Program new installations of Body tooling and conveyor systems

•             Reprogram automation for engineering changes and improvements

•             Coordinate automation campaigns

Position Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

•             Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering

•             Experience: 5+ years of related experience

o             Fundamental working knowledge of PLC logic and controls (RSLogix)

o             Electrical Engineering Technology/Mechanical Background

o             Related experience

o             Allen Bradley Panel View use/programming AB Servo and AB VFD drives

o             Familiarity with VFD’s, encoders, network/Ethernet controls

•             Successful candidate must be able to demonstrate leadership behaviors combined with outstanding interpersonal, teambuilding, and communication skills

Preferred requirements:

o             Strong problem solving skills, including 8Ds, FMEAs, and DMAICs

o             Ability to independently troubleshoot all body equipment and continuously evaluate equipment for improvement for quality and delivery

o             Fanuc programming, RS Logics 5000, Microsoft office, Factory Talk Studio

o             PLC

o             Ability to read prints, AutoCAD, interpret and modify electrical schematics

o             Strong understanding of conveyors system programming and body tooling techniques, in addition to networking understanding, Ethernet - IP

o             Ability to read blueprints

o             Simulation modeling exposure

o             Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience

o             Lean Tools – 5S, Kanban, Poka-yoke, and Value Stream Mapping

o             Project Methodology experience

o             DOEs experience

o             Visual Factory Management
