Job Description

We are seeking a Controls Systems Engineer with an interest in the design and fabrication of innovative machines.  The incumbent creates electrical and pneumatic schematics, analyzes prints, troubleshoots and debugs electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, determines material and component specifications, develops creative solutions to design challenges, and writes programming to operate machinery at a high level of proficiency.

Essential Job Functions: 

  • Collaborate within the fabrication team to help take innovative designs from conception to completion.
  • Design controls and automation systems including electrical design of motor control panels, PLC panels and instrument panels.
  • Assist in scoping project resources, schedule and budget.
  • Ensure components and assemblies adhere to applicable OSHA rules and GFSI standards.
  • Build and maintain supplier relationships.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems. 
  • Document and demonstrate solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and clear code.
  • Perform on-site startup, commissioning and validation of new machines.


  • 5+ Years of Experience with Industrial Automation. Co-op or internships will apply.

Education and Certifications: 

  • BSME or BSEE with concentration in automation, system integration and machinery preferred.  Will consider robotics and automation education.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Experience programming and troubleshooting PLCs a must; Omron, Mitsubishi or Allen Bradley preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of SolidWorks CAD Software strongly preferred.  (Electrical Schematic or 3D)
  • Wide knowledge of standard pneumatic, electric and mechanical solutions.
  • Impeccable attention to detail.
  • Ability to plan, schedule, coordinate and problem solve effectively.
  • Prior experience with GFSI preferred.
  • Knowledge of Lock-Out/Tag-Out procedures.
  • Adept at prototyping and building proof of concept models.
  • Demonstrate strong communication with colleagues, management and customers.
