Our client provides specialized surface treatments, chemical finishing and non-destructive testing to the aerospace and defense industry. They hold processing approvals for every major airframe manufacturer and process parts for a base of over 600 customers worldwide. Job Description:

This position is responsible for providing support to the production departments by keeping the process solutions in specification by making chemical additions or bath replacements.  This position also maintains environmental compliance by wastewater treatment and proper preparation and storage of hazardous materials for proper off-site disposal.  Hours for this position are Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Proper hazardous material storage and handling
  • Process tank additions and rebuilds
  • Forklift driving
  • General housekeeping and safety awareness
  • Perform quality tests and log readings
  • Assist with wastewater treatment facility
  • Other duties as assigned

Essential Mental/Physical Demands:

Standing for long periods of time in a manufacturing environment.  Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. on a frequent basis.  Ability to move up to, but not limited to 250 lbs. using material moving equipment.  Extensive use of hands.  Use of safety equipment when necessary (goggles, boots, gloves, and aprons). Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.  Noise level in the work environment varies.  Hearing protection is needed in designated areas. 

Required Skills:  

  • Must be able to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to perform quality tests and log readings, be mechanically inclined
  • Must be available for some overtime
  • Ability to manage time with shop needs
  • Ability to work independently while following PPE and all other safety requirements
  • Must be able to communicate and work well with others
  • Must be organized and able to think clearly in occasionally stressful situations in order to avoid mistakes

Required Experience:  

  • High School diploma required
  • Some technical college or 2-year degree preferred
  • 1 - 2 in a manufacturing environment
  • Industrial wastewater treatment and Hazwoper certification are preferred
  • 2-5 years of hazardous materials/waste handling; including basic pumping and pump servicing
  • Experience with hand tools is strongly preferred
