Job Description


PURPOSE:

The Chemical Technician Level III is typically a degreed professional and/or has mastered most chemistry theories and techniques.  The Chemical Technician will perform laboratory analysis in the waste management plant with supervision of the assigned supervisor (Organic/Inorganic).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Completes all required safety training, operational procedures training, RCRA training (initial and current), equipment and machine training, and other training as provided and required by Company. (Required training is subject to change over time due to regulatory changes, changes in operational requirements/needs and as subject to management discretion.)

  1. Successfully performs the following duties:

  • Prepares and analyzes samples as assigned by the designated Laboratory Supervisor (Organic/Inorganic).
  • Completes tasks with little or no supervision by the Chemists and or Supervisor.
  • Interprets, calculates, and reports analytical results.
  • Participates in general lab housekeeping, including sample sorting and disposal.
  • Prepares and standardizes reagents.
  • Performs daily checks and calibrations.
  • Cleans glassware to appropriate analytical cleanliness standards.
  • Responsible for cleanliness and orderliness or work areas used during the work day.
  • Follows the Waste Analysis Plan And Chemical Hygiene Plan.
  • Responsible for updating QC charts, recording analysis and calibration results.
  • Makes necessary recommendations on possible courses of action to the Supervisor or Lab Manager.
  • Recommends new methods, procedures and techniques for problem solving.
  • Communicates technical information orally and written.
  • Provides analytical assistance to plant and project work.
  • Provides support to all departments.
  • Must be timely with all communications to the assigned Supervisor and or the Lab Manager.
  • Wears personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed and in accordance with safety policies and procedures.
  • Performs other job-related duties assigned.
