Apex Life Sciences is seeking a Biostatistician responsible for providing statistical and data handling support for assigned R&D projects.



Responsibilities:

  • Provide consultation on experimental design and propose innovative methods of analysis and handling of data and perform statistical analysis of data and prepare reports, graphs and tables as needed.  
  • Interact with regulatory agencies with regard to statistical aspects of registration submissions as required and will maintain a high level of scientific expertise.  
  • Provide statistical input and support for all areas of the Division.  
  • May also supervise a team of four professionals.
  • Perform power and sample size calculations for studies as requested.
  • Ensure application of good trial design procedures to studies.
  • Produce randomization schedules.
  • Assist technical leaders and scientists in optimizing studies if necessary, taking into account study objectives and constraints.
  • Choose the appropriate statistical methods for analysis of data, and to review and write statistical analyses sections of study protocols.
  • Perform statistical analyses on clinical and laboratory data and write statistical reports with a high level of quality.
  • Ensure the USDA requirements regarding Biostatistics issues are fulfilled and to communicate that to the project team as required.
  • Be prepared to answer Regulatory questions regarding Biostatistics matters and interface with USDA Biometrics.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for contractors on Biostatistics matters.
  • Collaborates extensively with the Biostatisticians within Merial to share experiences and implement and improve standardization of statistical approaches.
  • Stays informed of the theoretical and technical improvements in statistics by attending training courses and/or conferences as necessary. 


Qualifications

  • M.S. or Ph.D. degree in statistics or the equivalent. In addition, a minimum of 3 (Ph.D.) or 6 (M.S.) years experience as a biometrician in a clinical environment is required.
  • Knowledge of SAS software, including SAS/GRAPH
  • Must be comfortable with use of a relational database package such as ORACLE
  • Proficiency in word processing (Microsoft Word), spreadsheets (Excel) and other PC software is highly desirable
  • Good oral and written communication skills are essential
