Job Description

Apex Life Sciences is looking for a Biostatistician to join our leading pharma company located near Madison, NJ.

The ideal candidate MUST have SAS Programming experience, and hold a PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, Mathematical Statistics, Applied Statistics, or equivalent, AND a minimum of 1 year of post-PhD relevant experience, or Master degree (MS/MA) in Statistics or Biostatistics. 

This in a contract position that could go permanent.

  • This is a research Biostatistician position for clinical trials who has a genuine interest in pharmaceutical research and drug development and wanted to be drug development statistician as his/her profession.
  • The selected candidate will have evidence of advanced statistical research applied to clinical trials, with strong and creative methodological research capabilities and excellent programming skills using R and other statistical applications (eg, SAS).
  • The candidate will have good writing skills, including technical writings, and is very good in oral communications (in English language).
  • The selected candidate will work directly with and under the supervision of other senior level statisticians in conducting statistical explorations and research for innovative design and analysis methods and/or in performing one or more of the tasks (from the outlined list below) for routine statistical operations in clinical trials. 
  • Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies, procedures, and state, federal and local laws. 
  • Assists in the development of clinical trial designs including the selection of appropriate statistical methods and tests, sample size calculations and creation of randomization schedules. 
  • Prepares statistical method sections for inclusion in study protocols. 
  • Reviews the design and content of Case Report Forms, databases, and data edit checks 
  • Develops and validates SAS programs to support statistical analyses. 
  • Executes statistical analysis plans including generation of tables, listings, and figures. 
  • Creates and maintains biostatistical documentation, including descriptions of methods, statistical 
  • programming and results. 
  • Participates in the development of standardization procedures for statistical functions. 
  • Evaluates and proposes new statistical methods for data analysis. 
  • Reviews statistical analysis plans, R code or SAS programs, and analysis output, tables and figures. 
  • Performs related duties as assigned. 
  • PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, Mathematical Statistics, Applied Statistics, or equivalent from an accredited college or university with minimum of 0 to 1 year of post-PhD relevant experience, or Master degree (MS/MA) in Statistics or Biostatistics with minimum of 1 to 3 years of post-Mater degree relevant experience.
  • A Bachelor degree (BS) in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics or Statistics is preferred. 

Knowledge of: 

  • General statistical principles and methods. 
  • Statistical programming using R or other software (eg, SAS) 
  • Database structures and data handling procedures. 
  • Business and scientific software applications. 
  • Business English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation.
