Tool and Die Maker – Automotive

Apex Life Sciences is searching for an Automotive Tool and Die Maker for our client in the automotive industry. Our client is a manufacturer of automotive parts located in northern Toronto, ON. This is a permanent, full-time opening working night shifts. Candidates must have completed a 4 year Tool and Die Maker apprenticeship and possess a certification of qualification.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Constructs new dies and tooling after reviewing drawings and details for lay-out, set-up, fitting, and finishing
  • Controls numerous machines to cut, mill, and grind
  • Repairs dies and tools used that are used in the automotive production and test to ensure proper function
  • Verifies conformance of completed dies to specifications by checking dimensions clearances, alignments and finish, consistently working to close tolerances
  • Operates crane to remove and/or relocate dies to specific work stations/equipment
  • Provides instructions to Tool & Die Apprentices as needed
  • Consistently reviews operations and provides suggestions and root cause analysis to Management  
  • Maintains, 5S, safety and housekeeping standards of work place
  • Any other daily duties that arise from Management

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of automotive industry experience (apprenticeship included)
  • Certification of Qualification - Tool & Die Maker (completed 4 years apprenticeship)
  • Prior experience with molding, stamping and/or painting
  • Prior experience with weld and robotic cells, roll forming, benders, and CNC preferred
  • Strong mathematical and mechanical ability
  • Ability to perform job tasks in a team but also independently
  • Responsible and accountable individual
