Job Description

Apex Life Sciences is looking for an Associate Scientist for a Clinical Genomic Product Development Group focused on the enhancement of existing product and developing new assay!


  • Developing diagnostic product using next generation sequencing.
  • Working in a fast paced, multi-disciplinary team 
  • Characterizing and optimizing current assay protocols and automated workflow.
  • Recognize potential problems, understand and troubleshoot assays and automation.
  • Conduct focused research under general direction of supervisor.
  • Independently carrying out experimental planning, conducting, analyzing, interpreting and reporting. 
  • Ability to complete associated paperwork in accordance with appropriate good documentation standard. 
  • Keep a laboratory notebook, write reports and prepare presentations


  • Hands-on experience with development and optimization of assay and workflow.
  • Practical experience with design and executing experiment.
  • Proven record of troubleshooting assay processes to deliver root cause and robust fixes.
  • Experienced in molecular biology methods for nucleic acid  manipulation including purification, amplification, labeling, hybridization for both DNA and RNA.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexible and adaptable.
  • Analytical, detail-oriented, organized, takes initiative, and self-motivated.
  • Record of process driven approach to experimental design and troubleshooting, including understanding of DOE and statistical analysis / scripting software such as JMP and R.
  • Excellent lab notebook and documentation skills.


  • MSc or BSc in Biochemistry, Molecular biology, Bioengineering or other applied Biology or Chemistry field
  • Minimum  3-7 years’ working experience in an industrial R&D environment
  • Assay development preferred
