Job Description

Assistant Manager

Purpose of the job:

Assist in leading a 24-hour manufacturing team to safely and efficiently produce a product that is disrupting the packaging industry with novel, sustainable, insulation solutions. 

Shift: 1st shift Monday – Friday with being on call 24/7

Job Responsibilities:

  • Leading problem solving efforts in the process (QC, production, machine issues, etc)
  • Planning and executing production schedules
  • Recruiting, selecting, developing, appraising and disciplining the production team as well as mentor future managers and supervisors
  • Identifying and prioritizing opportunism to improves process and equipment
  • Coordinating internal and external maintenance resources
  • Being responsible for budget items whether through recommendations or spenddown
  • Maintaining procedures and processes; developing and revising as necessary for each location

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • Oversee a team of 4 Jr process engineers/shift supervisors

Decision Making:

  • Making changes to production and maintenance schedules to example supplies available, machine failure, etc
  • Starting/shutting down of machine due to issues of safety, quality, etc
  • Disciplining of employees including investigations of employee issues

Knowledge Required:

  • General understanding of engineering principles
  • Broad knowledge of converting and manufacturing machinery
  • Ability to apply engineering, production and manufacturing theory to actual application
  • Demonstrate proper technique and adherence to safety rules


  • Four year college degree in engineering or related degree plus applicable experience


  • 0-2 years of experience in control systems
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience in manufacturing environment
  • 3+ years of experience in process engineering, process improvement and project management
