Job Description: 
This position is primarily responsible for hands on application work while providing project management support for the company’s Technical Manager. The Application Chemist will provide direct support for day-to-day administrative duties in addition to his lab duties to customer support and production support is expected. 

Application Chemist Responsibilities in the Lab: 
• Act and assist with improving existing products or modifying products based on customer needs. 
• Act and assist in developing products for customers utilizing information (ie application method, substrate, test method, treatment properties, etc.) 
• Formulate compounds, dispersions, emulsions, etc. 
• Help evaluate new/incoming raw materials. 
• Perform comparison studies. 
• Treat and test substrates. 
• Maintain the lab in a clean and orderly fashion. 
• Gain a working knowledge of all test equipment. 
• Record, organize and help analyze data. 
• Arrange the data for presentation, if necessary. 
• Perform instrumental calibration. 
• Sample preparation. 
• Statistical analysis.

Customer Support 
• Be prepared to direct and assist the proper personnel with the customer. 
• Remain available for questions. 
• Address customer concerns. 
• Communicate with customers and successfully express interest. 
• Respond promptly to customer needs. 

Responsibilities in the Office 
• Participate in purchasing of raw materials and office supplies. 
• General bookkeeping. 
• General secretarial duties. 
• Receptionist as required/telephone/monitor emails. 
Customer Support 
• Be prepared to assist and connect the proper personnel with the customer. 
• Communicate with customers and successfully express interest. 
• Respond promptly to customer needs. 

Inventory Control 
• Maintain and monitor raw materials/finished goods inventory via two separate spreadsheet systems. 
• Note and reconcile discrepancies. 
• Assist with batch sheet generation and production scheduling. 

• Maintain relationships with co-workers, as well as customers and suppliers. 
• Contribute to a positive work environment.

• Must possess a mastery of secretarial skills. 
• Preferred 1-5 years’ experience. 
• Software proficiency: Microsoft Office, Excel, and QuickBooks. Knowledge of SAP and ability to use is a plus. 

• Preform quality assurance. 
• Instrument calibration. 
• Assist with quality concerns. 
• Observe production for experimental products if required. 

• Maintain relationship with co-workers, as well as customers and suppliers. 
• Contribute to a positive work environment. 

Desired Skills and Experience 
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education preferred. 
• 1-5 years of experience. 
• Expert in multi-tasking, organizing, and prioritizing a must. 
• Detail oriented with ability to work independently. 
• Experience providing support/coordination to technical teams. 
• Previous experience in project management. 
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, team and organizational skills. 
• Strong presentation skills. 
• Demonstrates a high degree of integrity and discretion. 
• Responsive team player with the interest to take initiative and work in a fast-paced environment. 
• Proficient user in Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
