Job Description



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Reviews, comprehends and complies with all SOPs/Policies and quality assurance standards pertaining to specific area
  • Responsible for driving a climate controlled truck
  • Assist with loading and unloading transfer racks of rats and mice
  • Disposes of biohazard waste materials in a safe and thorough manner as required.
  • Maintains facility equipment and performs routine preventative maintenance on cage washers, including routine inspection of cleaning filters.
  • Assists with the receipt, stocking and maintenance of supply inventories.
  •  
  • Provide back- up animal care coverage as needed.

Cleans and sanitizes all animal caging and accessory equipment and maintains the cage washing area in a clean, neat and well-organized manner following approved SOP’s.

  • Monitors daily animal health and welfare 
  • Animal husbandry duties to maintain quality and health of non-USDA research animals, to include but not limited to:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education:  High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience: Rodent husbandry experience preferred.  ALAT certification
