Apex Life Sciences is seeking an experienced Analytical Chemist for the QA department at an established personal care company!

Description:

  • The Analytical Chemist is responsible for performing physical tests, identification and OTC actives assay testing on raw materials.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform physical and chemical testing primarily on raw materials per Raw Material Specifications, USP, EP or other compliance requirements.
  • Responsible for OTC annual confirmation project and associated testing.
  • Perform physical identification tests including FTIR, color, odor, appearance.  Perform assay tests on in-coming raw materials.
  • Perform assay tests on active raw materials using HPLC, GC and UV-Visible spectrophotometry.
  • Release raw materials in Material Management system after approval.
  • Perform calibration and routine maintenance of laboratory equipment as needed.
  • Conduct laboratory work and associated record keeping in a safe manner and in keeping with generally recognized GLP/GMP/GDP.
  • Complete OOS reports in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Responsible for the general housekeeping of the Analytical Laboratory.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Lead or Laboratory Manager.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science / Art, Chemistry or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in Quality Control preferably in analytical field.
  • Full knowledge of working with and troubleshooting analytical instrumentation.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • Must be punctual.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
  • If needed, must be able to work until a project completed.
  • Must have good attention to detail.
  • Must be able to follow SOP and test methods.
  • Must be able to maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized work area. Maintain housekeeping in conformance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and Standard Operation Procedures (SOP) standards.
  • Must have strong analytical and problem solving skill.
  • Must be strong in Excel and Word.
