A/R Specialist- Billing Department


Performs duties related to departmental billing and collection including, but not limited to, verifying insurance coverage with third party carriers, follow-up on outstanding accounts. Provides excellent customer service to patient/clients through a professional and courteous tone of voice as well as having extensive knowledge of subject matter. Conducts oneself in a professional and courteous manner at all times while at work.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Respond to inbound patient and insurance carrier calls in a timely, courteous and professional manner
  • Always use a professional and courteous tone with all inbound and outbound callers
  • Communicate within the team and across functions as needed
  • Document all call history in the comments section of the company billing system
  • Follow up on all outstanding accounts via telephone or written inquiries to patients and/or third party payers
  • Ensure accounts are worked to the fullest extent possible at the time of follow up
  • Call patients, doctors office or insurance companies to obtain missing or incomplete information
  • Correct insurance information on rejected insurance claims and resubmit for processing
  • Participate in monthly quality review with management for review of work
  • Support other team members with insurance/claim related questions


  • 2+ years of experience in billing and customer service
  • Medical Billing Certificate in lieu of experience
