Job Description

Apex Life Sciences is looking for Microbiologist for one of our clients


  • Employs aseptic technique and accepted microbiological practices to prevent microbiological contamination of surfaces, equipment, and personnel.
  • Operates laboratory equipment and calibrates equipment where applicable.
  • Assists in evaluation of, or development of alternative test methods.
  • Conducts/supervises special projects, when required or requested.
  • Prepares culture media and solutions used, when required.
  • Conducts analytical assays through High Performance Liquid Chromatography, when required.
  • Maintains culture collection as required.
  • Maintains open communication with sales personnel and customers, when required.
  • Ensures that all technical inquiries are dealt with in the most professional, efficient and effective manner within the time scale required.
  • Prioritizes and executes assigned duties, and keeps the Manager informed on status of all work assignments.
  • Records and maintains accurate test results and enters them into computer database. 
  • Writes & submits laboratory reports to Manager for approval, and to Sales / Technical personnel once approved.
  • May be designated to deputize (or assist) Manager, when assigned or required.
  • Maintains high standards of lab safety and health within the requirements of OSHA and other relevant codes of practice and conducts laboratory safety inspections as required.
  • Shares in responsibility with for the general cleanliness and tidiness of the laboratories.


  • Master’s degree in Biology with emphasis in Microbiology
  • Knowledge of basic microbiological techniques
  • Practical experience in microbiology laboratory (preferably greater than 5 years)
  • Working knowledge of basic laboratory instruments
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Proficient communication and computer skills
