Lab Technician

Golden Valley, MN

Weekend Shift: Thursday through Sunday, 7am-5pm, 37.5-40 hours a week. Holiday work sometimes required.


  • The Lab Technician has accountability to analyze and support all gluten testing needs on a daily basis.
  • This position requires the ability to take direction, and at times work autonomously, to support the daily needs within the gluten laboratory

Responsibilities include

  • Facilitate analytical testing for R&D.
  • Communicate with customers regarding business critical sample test results, resolution of questionable data, and facilitation of special requests, as needed.
  • Provide support and flexibility related to the analysis of samples for the gluten lab.
  • Document results and review data.
  • Investigate any technical discrepancies on a timely basis.
  • Develop a strong knowledge of the analytical methods being used to analyze samples.
  • Train other personnel as needed. (should not be training GMI personnel)


  • 0-3 Years of Experience. Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Biology or related field
  • Knowledge of analytical methods and basic analytical and/or food chemistry testing including protein, pipetting, weighing, grinding, etc.
  • Working knowledge of Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent assays (ELISA), absorbance spectroscopy, etc.
  • Knowledge of laboratory quality systems, statistics, and document control
  • Ability to manually calculate analytical test results; Demonstrated ability to work and communicate with people from technical, production, and other backgrounds
  • Strong knowledge and background of analytical instrumentation
  • Able to coordinate multiple tasks effectively
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; PC skills: proficient with Word, Excel, etc.
